Limited travel grants supported by KAIST will be available to full-time students to defray travel costs for attending WiOpt 2009 in Seoul. Full-time students with first authored paper(s) can submit applications. The students' advisors should provide recommendation letters independently.

The application process will be carried out electronically. The application for a student should contain:

A resume

A cover letter, which should indicate how she/he would benefit from attending WiOpt and a brief summary of research interests and accomplishments.

The student's advisor should submit a letter of recommendation, confirming that the student is a full-time student in good standing and commenting on the strengths and potential contributions of the student. The letter should indicate how the student would benefit from attending WiOpt and the suitability of WiOpt's technical program to the student's research area.

Applications should be submitted via email to Prof. Youngchul Sung (ysung@ee.kaist.ac.kr) with subject: "WiOpt student travel grant".

The deadline for applying for this student travel grant is May 10, 2009. Applicants will be notified with a decision by May 15, 2009, and will have to make a decision whether or not to accept the grant by May 20, 2009.

Each recipient will receive $1000USD or $500USD (depending on residential distance from Seoul) supported by KAIST under the condition that he or she presents in WiOpt 2009 in Seoul.
